BBCIf
the European Parliament voted to reject Acta, it will be
scrapped. Sounds good to me, but the enemy is still at
work. But a group of more than 130 organisations representing
European industry have urged the European Parliament to wait for the opinion of
the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) before taking a final decision
on the Treaty. However, it would have had one good effect. There are
many counterfeit items in circulation, often originating in China, and some of
them are downright dangerous. The supply chain to industries like aircraft and
nuclear are contaminated by counterfeit parts, which will cause a major disaster
sooner rather than later, and there need to be severe penalties, starting with a
minimum of life imprisonment in such cases, for the guilty parties, to attempt
to prevent what is likely to happen.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
