Yes, court filing fees and perhaps a few other mandatory
expenses. In most
cases you are NOT entitled to things like
witness' expenses, and certainly not
to lawyers' fees.
(This is called the "American rule", and it's one of the
worst things about the American justice system.) However,
additional rules
apply in copyright cases, so it'll be
interesting to see whether Google can
separate out its
copyright-related expenses and legal fees.

Things like filing fees. It's not usually a princely
sum. Novell filed for costs, didn't they, and get
them, in theory anyway. If you look at their list,
which SCO objected to in part, you will see the kinds
