How much use is a jailbroken XBox to a supercomputer cluster?
I know the USA military used to use PS2s for that.
Just wondering if someone did that, since XBox hardware is a loss-leader, what
sort of dent it would make in MS's "mountain of cash".[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I think it's more of a case that the tactics no longer work as well as they
once did.

MS has indicated that their next-gen console will be heavily DRMed and you will
not be able to sell your used games. I see a bright future for them (fire sale
anyone?).[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Y'know Google's don't be evil motto is fairly practical.
M$'s big problem is that they really don't seem to keep
inspired programmers - just business majors with programming
experience. (Check out the mini blog - I don't see a single
person with real interest in technology - and their
entrenched bureaucracy weeds that sort of person out
rapidly.) Long-term, I don't see them succeeding in the
technology space. OTOH, I have this hunch that they'll do
great in business software. (dreaming of the Oracle v M$
lawsuits. ;))
