So, just after getting murdoch in trouble for doing exactly this, the government
is going to try it?
Brilliant consistancy there.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

The government insists it’s not after content. It promises not to
read the body of emails or eavesdrop on phone calls without a
warrant.
"No, honest! You can trust us!"
And then,
with the first hint of anything that smells like something they can use as an
excuse, "Emergency powers!" that mean they don't have to have a
warrant.
(Bitter and cynical, me?)

Government using the web to gather personal information?
People are up in arms? Why - they seem to not care if a corporation gathers
the same information on them?
Some "social networking sites" are doing all that snooping/info
gathering now, are they not?
So, where is the outcry over that level of privacy intrusion?
