Still gotta have evidence...

Y'know, I'll guess that he took a reasonable step towards
maximizing shareholder value. (Probably the wrong one...but
his other options didn't look beautiful.)

(1) Focus on dumbphones. And get eaten by Chinese
manufacturers.
(2) Keep Meego. Meego was too far behind to beat Android.
(3) Switch to Android and focus on the European market.
Might have been a winner.
(4) Go to Windows Phone and hope M$ can encourage business
adoption. WP might even do ok, I guess, if M$ moves really
fast on business features (like being able to remotely wipe
and administer phones on a per company basis - the sort of
stuff that Google and Apple don't prioritize.)

I think he might have done better with (3), but a year or
two ago, I wasn't sure. I honestly bet on failure for all
the options I could think of - only thing that looked
reasonable was trying to get into Motorola's shoes - and I
think the corporate cultures were way too different.

Of course, at this point, a M$ buyout looks like his best
option. The only thing that looks like an error is focusing
on the US instead of Europe and China.
