all software IS math - software patents need to die

>Can software create a tree?

Using Blender, I can construct a 3D representation of a tree.
If I export those data files in the right file format, Shapeways will print it
out for me. Currently, construction material is limited to ceramic and plastic.

If we lived in the world of ST:DS9, a replicator could construct the tree of
wood. Wood that was created by converting energy to the appropriate biophysical
and biochemical formations.

Do we stick with what was known a decade or two ago?
Or do we stick with what is currently doable?
Or do we stick with what can be envisioned, even though the tech doesn't yet
enable it to happen?

But it can display a *picture* of a tree on a screen.

Cheers,
