I was responding to the idea that everything is suggested
simply because it can be done. That's different from the

No, please understand that drugs can be patented yet these
involve very well-known chemical processes. Yet, the reality
is that those well-known processes do not actually reduce
fever, pain or 'cure' cancer - you have to have to find the
drugs that target correct process desirable side effects
(death is not one but does 'cure' cancer). A good piece of
software is exactly the same as a good drug just that the
environment is different. Thus you are not going to get a
patent on aspirin for pain treatment - likewise you
shouldn't get a software patent for performing 'row
reduction' to get say a matrix inverse. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
