Could a live CD work on a machine equipped ./c the UEFI ?
I know this is not very feasible, but I think it would be
nice if some techie could tell us if/yes or if/no

Excellent comments by all!

Since Microsoft is involved, I would go with: "monopoly
protection" as the primary reason, but perhaps pressure from
their large business accounts might be the case. MS doesn't
like to do anything unless they have to, or are forced to
do. Virus problems for ordinary users are, to them, like a
pesky mosquito. Virus problems for large corporate users
(their core business) are a little more serious. Anything
MS does 'for security' is unquestioned by most, but to me,
is only window dressing.
