"As a non-American, I can't do much about the US Legal System now can I but
US Citizens sure can."
Actually, no; US citizens can't do much about the legal system or anything else
political unless they are fabulously wealthy. Since the notorious Citizens
United decision of the Supreme Court, political control is firmly in the hands
of Corporations and rich people.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

In the US all we get to do is vote and write letters.
The letters are heavily filtered, of course, so unless an
overwhelming majority of a representatives constituants
express the same desires, they tend to be rather useless.
Voting is a great idea. However, one must have access
to honest and complete information on the prospective
candidates. The take over of the major media by a few
wealthy owners has pretty much prevented the US citzens
from getting honest and complete information.
Choice of candidates has pretty much gone to the dogs.
The so-called two party system is really just that. Each
party picks some slime dog and then use media PR to paint
them as someone who they think will get the most votes.
Then they have a big party to celebrate another democratic
farse they have foisted on the public.
The process is good, but is is a good example of GIGO, as
everyone in the world has seen how great the US has become.
I fully agree with Judge Posner's assesment. (News Picks)
