Sounds like we are looking for a blind-man's machine -- I'm not going to get
into something for multiple simultaneous disabilities.

Dunno, how about a keyboard driver that talks? I assure you I can type
reasonably well without ever seeing my keyboard, and it wasn't hard to learn.

As for your friend, as long as it's a computer, they need a serious, regular,
off-line backup. Machines die, disks die, and, as you see, techs screw up,
being *highly* paid (not!). A disk holding everything costs under $100 right
now, I've got several, including one mirroring my small company's entire
collection of engineering documentation on my desktop because the wire to the
main server is so slow.
