How much difference do you think there will be between a x86 mobo that has
'secure boot' on and one with it off ?
A setting in the 'bios'.
A link, switch or other hardware toggle.
At worst a different ROM.
Given that many users and corporates will want to stick with XP or Win7
(especially in China with pirated OS) or will want to run better OSes then it
would be suicide for a mobo maker to build them _only_ for Windows 8.
With ARM mobos there may be more difference, mainly because MS will only support
a limited range of chips and ARM CPUs or SOCs. Mobos will either be 'secure
boot' and have supported, but older SoCs, or have more recent SoCs, or cheaper
SoCs, and no 'secure boot'.
I don't see problems in avoiding Windows.
