Huh? What? Who is Asud?
From what I know, Samsung has been building various platforms based on Linux for
a while. Ever since Samsung started to work with Intel on Tizen (which is hosted
by the Linux Foundation), I have expected Samsung to contribute more to the
Linux Foundation, if they ever intend to put more into the effort. Given how
many of their devices are already Linux based (with probably more to come), this
shouldn't come as that much of a surprise.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

So they're putting some money into the Linux Foundation. That's honorable, no
doubt about it.
But they also rolled over for Lodsys (see PJ's new article). That's not
particularly honorable.
And they also entered a "patent agreement" with MS that helps support
MS' FUD about Android being "covered" by "Windows patents".
(Maybe they didn't pay MS anything as part of this agreement, but we'll never
know that.) That seems even less honorable to me than rolling over for Lodsys.
I submit that Samsung is making short-term tactical decisions and we should
remain skeptical about their motives.
We should also cheer Linux Foundation, because no matter where that $500K came
from, I'm sure they have many good uses for it.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
