No precedent here. They got their patent claims thrown out on the merits (or
rather the lack of them) of exactly those patents. They got the copyright
claims dismissed as a matter of law, but that does not help against this patent
case.
While they might be able to use their loss in copyright-related cases as a

I think... they would have hired a firm less costly than BS&F if that had
been their plan. They just blew a huge wad if they had been seeking to lose.

Deliberately aim to loose 10's of millions of dollars in one case so you may
have the chance to use it as a precedent in another case.
Jane: Why aren't
you playing as well as you normally do?
John: That's easy, I plan to
loose then use the knowledge I gained loosing to win the next
match!
Jane: But... you normally beat me... what could loosing to me
possibly teach you?
