The fact that QDOS was a port of CP/M to 16 bit computers is beside the point.
Today it would probably be a copyright violation. It did have the advantage that
companies that were porting software from CP/M would find all the system calls
and things like file control blocks that they used under CP/M.

And iirc the story correctly, precisely because Tim never intended it to become
a saleable product, it was a decompiled DR-Dos.

So I doubt Bill realised he was stealing from Digital Research, but I doubt he
cared, either ...
