I think this patent may predate Google.

For certain values of "interesting"

I took a quick look and my eyes started to glaze over almost immediately. However, I recognised it as the same type of thing as Apple and Google are dealing with re. Lodsys, maybe even the same patents.

This is the sort of "invention" that only a vapid marketing type could love. I don't think anyone competent in human-computer interaction design would treat this as a positive example of how to do anything. If anything, they would treat it as a counter-example. The prospect of it actually performing the purported function (ie. helping to improve a product design) is pretty limited.

In any case, it is a pretty darned obvious "invention". Given the design requirements, you could whip up something very similar very quickly, even if limited to 1992 technology (phone lines to a BBS instead of the Internet). Heck, in a pinch it could be made to work with 1932 technology (ticker tape and a telegraph/teleprinter).
