You've got it the wrong way around.

Apple's EFI--they're not using UEFI--will boot anything you care to name. Grab
GRUB 2 off of your favourite Linux distro, stick it in a FAT partition on a USB
disk the right way, and it's happy Linux booting time all you like.

Apple's OS X checks the TPM chip so that OS X only runs on Macs.

There is no attempt to restrict what you run on a Mac.

Older machines (ones which support Windows XP in BootCamp) even have a thin BIOS
emulator in EFI, that can boot an MBR-style primary partition using a trick with
the reserved MBR compatibility block in the GPT partition table.
