that M$ wishes to assert? I suspect Google will foot the bill but phone mfgs
would be willing to join.

Don't know about class action...

But there's plenty of fodder for anti-trust.

Unfortunately
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, June 01 2012 @ 11:14 AM EDT
Unfortunately, extortion is legal if the person being extorted agrees to is and,
in this country, defending your rights against a wealthy patent holder is
impossible ... they bankrupt you before you get to trial. In patent and
copyright cases you are presumed guilty. So, Microsoft does not have to be
right, they just have to bankrupt you before you can prove you are innocent.

Prosecution of M$ behaviour unlikely.

M$ can do no wrong in the eyes of the Government. They
provide the perfect vehicle for spying (Windows OS) and
are expanding into the mobile market for the same purpose,
I believe. They are free to do whatever it takes to allow
their plan to proceed. The "deal" was made years ago.
I would venture to say that M$ has all the cards and is
holding the US hostage. No, the government will never do
anything significant to free us from M$.

don't forget what happened to B&N's filings
Authored by: designerfx on Friday, June 01 2012 @ 11:31 AM EDT
Just because they settled doesn't mean they aren't ammunition
for Google due to public filings.

It will be interesting to see who backs google as the
antitrust complaints move forward.

Googlerola (or Motogoogle)
Authored by: mcinsand on Friday, June 01 2012 @ 12:08 PM EDT
What reassures me about the Oracle case and Google purchasing Motorola is that
Google has shown resistance to caving. I suspect that, in at least one level
beyond just getting the defensive patent arsenal, this is a dare to MS; 'go
ahead, make my day!' Poor MS. How will their shakedowns continue if someone
actually has the backbone to stand up to their bullying?
