Then why did the EU slap Microsoft on the wrist?
All Microsoft understands is when the fine is greater than their cash on
hand, plus gross revenue for the previous year, and a prohibition on selling
or supporting any software, or hardware either directly or tnrough third
parties for at least ten years, including consulting agreements.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Perhaps I just do not see it, but I have yet to see the EU
actually really put the hurt to any corporation. I see lots
of talk about how the EU will do this and do that, but I
never see any action. I believe PJ's phrase of "All hat and
no cattle" may be fitting here. Sure, M$ got fined, but
did they ever pay it? If they did it probably came out of
petty cash anyway.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but they don't seem to be
any more effective than the US authorities when it comes to
dealing with questionable corporate behaviour.
