He has moved on to Google vs Microsoft in the EU.
Interestingly,
Barnes & Noble, the company that formally hired those lawyers (though Google
may have contributed to the effort), has meanwhile entered into a strategic
partnership with Microsoft, something that B&N certainly wouldn't ever have
considered if it had truly believed that Microsoft was
evil.
Sigh. Has he never heard of 'doing a deal' but he should
have some evidence that Google did contribute financially in this case or he
might find himself on the wrong end of a lawsuit.
This sort of deal is not
all that uncommon in courts all over the US. Companies decide to 'invest' in
their opponents business in order to escape having a ruling for damages go
against them. Typical of an out of court settlement.
However, as a result of
this 'deal' MS has had to stump up a whole load of money. Whilst personally, I
think that this is the beginning of the end for B&N, (similarities to the
Novell/SUSE deal here) in the short term it will make good business for
B&N.
From my rare readings of his blog, I really do have to wonder what
planet he is living on. Perhaps it is 'Zog' because one thing is for sure and
that he is does not inhabit this one of ours.
