VIA launches $49 Android PC

Looks rather sweet. It's a pity it doesn't run a complete operating system
though, like Debian or Ubuntu.

I like the form factor

I like this one for form over the Raspberry Pi. This one
has all the connectors along one edge, which makes the end
result neat and clean, rather than the spider that is RP.

The article is really scant on technical info. For instance,
where is the Android OS? Is it built in, or is it in the
micro SD, or where?

This is a unit that bears watching. VIA has a good reputation for these small
devices.

Wonder what the situation is with their graphic drivers. It would be pointless
for most Linux based systems if it's still the same as their other PC parts.

Bonus question:
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, May 24 2012 @ 06:00 PM EDT
Did they release the SoC's (*complete*) documentation? With
the predecessors: Vt8500 and Wm8505, the lack of chip-
documentation was a mayor hinder in getting any Linux support
on the rails. A 'System-On-Chip' is very tricksy to build
Linux device drivers for if the documentation and/or source-
form 'examples' are missing.
