Too bad Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" has proprietary charging
port and no USB host (other than via proprietary cable).
7 inch is ok to fit in pocket of jacket, loose fitting khaki
pants, or pocketbook.
As a sample of devices priced low enough to buy and Mod
without concern for wrecking a higher priced unit, there is
this unit below as example of low end device that has HDMI,
as do others. Q: When will someone come out with a KIT to
build your own tablet, so can build one that allows easy
access to battery so can also replace them yourself easily,
add RAM (can solder on yourself or slot), add storage too,
choice of screens (non-glossy, Pixel Qi), etc?
If not, then other wise with these "cheaper" units, then
might be able to modify/root to boot plain LXDE
(Lubuntu) and run another more Android as a VM application
(in non-persistent mode, so that everything you do on it
just goes away when you start the VM).
Oh - I was in Radio Shack and for $129.00 they were selling
a DiGix Tab-720 that has following specs (sample only of
what is happening, and how we will be looking at $99 devices
that we might be able to convert into what we really want):

--- It's too bad there is no GPS, but who needs that all
the time anyway, would be nice to have, however this unit
could maybe be modified to run LINUX, but on-board storage
limited. I wonder if you could tear apart this, take out
the screen they have, and instead replace with a Pixel Qi 7
inch 1024x600 screen, and still have capacitive function?
