Will MS "acquire" a hardware company, and try to be "an
Apple"?
Otherwise, they might be boxed in by their license price, and the extra layer of
ownership. Manufacturer plus software maker = two entities who need to profit
(vs Apple with BSD OSX that is free, they sell the whole package).
HP would have been a good target for MS to buy a long time ago, as isn't HP
really friendly with MS anyways?
Or, will MS buy Nokia?

The timing on this is good news for open tablets, such as the upcoming Vivaldi (formerly Spark) and ZaReason's ZaTab. You'd think that there
was plenty of profit margin given the pricing for quality tablets, but that
would be before considering the costs of acquiring patents and engaging in
patent MAD. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I saw a Windows 7 tablet advertised yesterday - for $1,200 and
some change...
Granted, it was a Core i5 CPU (so, basically, a laptop plus
touchscreen minus keyboard), but I was struck at the idea that
you could buy *two* iPads for the price of one Windows
tablet...[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
