Stack, queue, and heap names were chosen on purpose
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, May 21 2012 @ 05:42 PM EDT
Terms like stack, queue, and heap were chosen precisely becaues they had
physical representations so an individual could conceptualize them.

stack - think of a stack of papers, books, or better yet plates. You place
plates on top of each other, one after another, when you need to use one, you
take a plate off the top of the stack.

queue - think of a line of people trying ot purchase something. The person in
front goes first, and new people are placed in line after each other.

heap - an arbitrary, unorganized pile. Think of a heap of clothing. You grab a
piece as needed and as you can find it.

Unfortunately, the jury never got their intro to data structures class to give
them any sort of background. Funny definition of peers we have.
