I chased up the Wiki you suggested and began to make sense of the other
comments. I'm beginning to see where the efficiencies come from. I will go back
to it, in time.
I noted this sad comment 'Pick Systems often became tangled in licensing
litigation, and devoted relatively little effort to marketing and improving its
software'.
So, I won't try the evaluation version. I will get a better idea of the
principles as applied to a stand-alone application running on a general purpose
operating system so that I know one when I see one. I get the impression that I
would be able to be cleverer with using one instead of relying on other folks'
ideas for forms, report templates and the rest.
