In what way is Android competing with Oracle's Java? They're not working in the same marketplaces at all.

That's only because Android is totally replacing Java in all the markets that Sun made the most direct money off of Java: Embedded devices (phones, DVRs, automation equipment, etc.) People are already forgetting the development hell that was J2ME. And they're complaining about Android being fragmented! Hah! Kids these days have it good.
