Is there scope and interest enough to take
"The Groklaw
Principle" to the next level? Is there interest
enough from this community to
participate? Is this something
that we can make bigger and more useful than any
one of us
combined?
Yes, yes, and
yes.
If this has potential, then perhaps we could
ask PJ
and Mark to come up with...
No, no, and
no.
The thing is, how can we possibly ask Mark & PJ to take
this added task on? We can't, nor is this the appropriate
forum for an action
plan. The
Free Software Foundation (FSF)
would be the appropriate
place for this, if they had the funding to take this
on.
I have often thought of how we could work together as a
community
to bring about profound change. For example,
suppose we had a well-funded staff
of lawyers, and started
challenging random software patents by the hundreds,
even
thousands, swamping the system with these challenges?
Wouldn't that be
powerful?
For example, instead of random, focus on the portfolio of
the biggest patent rolls, like Intellectual Ventures, or
Microsoft. How would
these organizations feel to suddenly
find their patents under attack by the
dozens, hundreds
even, in dozens of different venues, even all over the
world,
at the same time? Wow - what a delicious thought! [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
