They might also object to the us demanding that Motorola
Europe not
block ms sales in the eu. (How can the us even do that?)
Let me
help you:
- The World Series [baseball] (how many non-US
teams/countries play?)
- The World Football champions (Superbowl
winners - how many non-US teams/countries play in the NFL? And what
exactly does the N stand for in that TLA?)
- The Guinness book of
World records (Ok, so it does do records from all around the globe, but
it was the US edition that first included that word and has now changed the UK
title to include that word)
- In "Children of Men" set in England
(admittedly set in the future, which goes to some way to explain) there is this
entity called "Homeland Security" which does NOT exist in the UK, only
USA
- If the USA has so many World Title holder Wrestlers, how
come their medal tally in Olympic Wrestling is not exactly every Gold + Silver +
Bronze? (In 2008 it managed 1 Gold & 2 Bronze whereas Russia only managed 6
Gold, 3 Silver + 2 Bronze) [Ok, I know that Olympic wrestling is a sport whereas
these "World title holders" are theatre]
To put it bluntly, the USA
[lawyers] seem[s] to think that USA == The World (and in their eyes, the only
world is the USA) and USA law has to be obeyed there. They forget that The
World != USA.
The USA seems to be very forgetful when it comes to
history, especially its own of a little over 2 1/3 centuries: the USA [mainly]
came about because the colonies felt aggrieved that they had to pay taxation
without representation [caveat lector] and yet that is exactly what the USA
is trying to do now to others: the EU has no representation in the US Senate,
Judiciary, [etc] and yet a US court feels it has Jurisdiction over the EU and
can tell it what to do; at least in the 1750s & 1760s the colonies were
supposedly part of England.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

A honey trap perhaps. The MS patent would seem likely to be invalidated in the
US.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
