Wonder how many young XBox users know that Microsoft makes it. Kinda like some
seniors don't know that Medicare is a government program.

XBox has been a success, so perhaps the Lumia
may have a slim
chance.
I really don't think you can equate the two. I
believe
when the XBox came out, it was truly totally cool and a big
hit. It
survived and thrived in the market place in spite of
the competition and the
"Red ring of Death". One reason for
its cool was its form factor, something
revolutionary at the
time. Another was because of the games. Microsoft was one
of
the best games developers. Remember their flight simulators?
We
tend to discount everything Microsoft does, but they
were truly successful at
games and the XBox, and attracting
the best games to that platform. That cannot
be denied.
There is no parallel with the Windows Phone, however.
There
is nothing cool about it. There is nothing cool about
its apps. In fact, it
wouldn't even have any decent apps if
Microsoft hadn't paid the more successful
app developers to
port their apps over. The Windows phone has nothing going
for it. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Only a complete dork would buy a
Windows phone
That's
not a defect, that's a marketing strategy!
That should be their slogan/tagline,

Wasn't the XBox a money loser for a rather long period of time?

I think they know how uncool they are in the eyes of young
users. Remember the recent failure called the Microsoft Kin.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
