I thought both Microsoft Corporation and Motorola Mobility are US based no?

That US laws apply to the whole planet and not just the USA.
ergo, you do something in a foreign country that whilst is not illegal in that
jurisdiction but is illegal in the US, Uncle Sam could come after you and jail
you for those crimes.

In reality it would only apply to serious crimes.
Winning a judgement against Microsoft is big news especially in Election Year.

Due to the influence of the **AA groups, US law is now applicable
internationally. Also we can use our courts to control the internet via ICANN.
May the planet quake in our power!! (or look down their noses in disdane,
probably the same thing. As reported by our news services anyway) :)
