Verison to customers: 'Grandfathered' does not mean what you think

Wow, LTE will support voice calls?

Who woulda thunk it?
}

I suspect he meant Voice over IP (VoIP) calls. LTE and 4G are supposed to use
VoIP as the primary voice method. To get most efficient use of VoIP will also
require IPv6, as VoIP calls are supposed to connect directly end to end, without
gateways or servers in between.

The Droid is dead, long live the Droid
Authored by: hardmath on Wednesday, May 16 2012 @ 05:34 PM EDT
I'm curious about this story because I bit the bullet
yesterday and upgraded my phone. I've been carrying around
an original Motorola Droid for more than 2 years, and the
touch screen was getting flakier by the day (growing dead
zone and "phantom" touches too frequent to work around).

So, since I was eligible for an upgrade, I pulled the
trigger and got a 4G LTE model, the Droid Bionic. Battery
life will probably be significantly worse, but speed and
screen size seems to be clearly better.

The sales guy assured me my unlimited plan is
"grandfathered". Now I'm wondering what exactly it means.
