It sounds like circumstances were beyond her control (her car broke down).

I think we should assume, until we see some evidence to the contrary, that this
juror was conscientious about her jury duty, and would have been in court if she
could have.

She won't now be part of the phase 2 deliberations or phase 3, but she did still
spend the last several weeks doing her civic duty and I would say "Thank
You" to her for that.

No breakdown insurance?

It this happens to me I call the breakdown company and they
fix the problem or tow me home or to a garage.
Normally the expectation is help within an hour.

If you are vulnerable - woman alone they come out quicker.

What am I missing?
