Actually, there's some research that suggests some people will NEVER 'get' the
way computers follow instructions.
They will always attribute meaning to the steps the computer is doing, and be
surprised when it does something ridiculous in the face of that meaning.

Which I have not yet read, but the excerpt in the codinghorror.com article talks
about "meaninglessness", which is the insight I've been missing when
trying to understand why some people don't understand why machines do things...
