half a trillion dollars generated
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, May 15 2012 @ 11:08 AM EDT
In a way I'm starting to accept the patent trolls, or at least understand what
makes them so popular among decision-makers. They generate so much wealth, so
what? Isn't it good these entrepeneurs can buy all the goods they need, and,
they can, if they would like to, also invest in new companies!

From the article: "A recent academic study estimates patent trolls have
cost the economy half a trillion dollars since 1990". So, they generate a
lot of money too! Somehow, I get this Goldman-Sachs voice
(http://video.pbs.org/video/2210452642/) in my head. The patent people probably
believe in Mammon too.

These guys must be good for a society which lives on patents, since they are
still around.

1) Create a niche Internet business
2) Get a big wad of funding
3) Wait for the inevital patent troll to spoil the party
4) Disappear to foreign climes with the funding.
5) Wait for stature of limitations to expire
6) Rinse and repeat.
