Dr. Mitchell had a more pragmatic reason to expunge "numeric
reference" from his report. It could be really hard to convince the jury
without confusing them. The notion that an obvious numeric reference like 01
could actually be a symbolic reference because it is a numeric reference to a
table entry that contains a numeric reference to a constant pool that contains
an numeric reference to a string in a heap which is a name to be looked up and
so the whole thing is a symbolic reference -- Well, maybe the jury will be more
convinced if he just calls the whole thing a symbolic reference.
