You make some good points.
however, your last one is no use to me. I don't use any Google service apart
from search.
The last place I worked gave me an iPhone 4 for business use. I used it
alongside the Samsung phone for a while. The iPhone was just a whole lot more
pleasant to use.
I used the HTC last week in Canada. GPS was inoperable yet it does work all over
Europe. It was the phone because I tried the SIM in a Motorola phone and GPS
worked fine.
The HTC is unlocked by the way.
As I'm travelling a lot on business these days, I need to have GPS and Skype
working wherever I go.
Unless I root my phone I don't think my Sensation will cut the mustard.

Ubuntu & 'apt-get' are not the answer to Life, The Universe & Everything which
is of course, "42" or is it 1.618?
