Aye, thanks for the link, that was very informative. So had they used libgcj
(which is a "Linux component") they would have had a license to the
very patent, but as they use a component that is not on the list, they don't
have one.

Good to know, thanks again (I am the person who asked about this)

I'm not sure the analysis in the above link is a correct one.
One obvious error: it says that java is not part of linux
environment, however one of the component tables on OIN
site clearly lists openjdk as part of linux environment...
