What is the difference between this and lack of compatibility?

If you are going to discuss "compatibility", you must begin with things that are comparable. You cannot compare oranges to a bicycle, by for example, discussing which is a better mode of transportation, or which has more vitamins. Such a comparison is nonsensical. If Google had used a different language, and I contend they would have had to, had they decided that the use of Java was out for fear of infringing the SSO and names of the API, nobody would talk about the impact on Java. When Microsoft came up with their new OS for the WinPhone did people talk about its impact on Java? Of course not!
