Tablets... what size to they start at?

Heh, that depends on who you are I guess. Some actually would consider most
Android based phones to be no different from tablets XD.

It's what you do with it that counts.

Tablets... what size to they start at?

Easy answer: it stops being a "phone" when you can't fit it in your
pocket any more.

After that, it only matters whether it is "handbag sized" or
"laptop sized".

Galaxy note...
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, May 06 2012 @ 12:22 PM EDT
I have the Note and I call it a Phablet, because it's a phone, but it has the
functionality and screen res of a tablet. (and cos it's Phabulous!!!)

everyone that has had a play with my note has decided to get one.. it turns out
that it wasn't that big once you get used to it and once you've gotten used to
it you can't go back to a normal smartphone.

Tablets... what size to they start at?

It seems probable that a half size iPad may be released 3rd qtr & with 1024
x 768 res. But am willing to bet it will not sell in the same numbers (over
time) that the iPhone & iPad currently do.

Best bet is it will fill a gap but the gap looks IMHO very small. A half sized
iPad seems at best merely a product to counter Samsung sales tactics. A device
of that size is just too useless when compared to a pocketable iPhone or a
visually useable iPad.

Also am willing to bet that the next iPhone (presumed to be the iPhone 5) will
not have a screen bigger than around 4". IMHO Apple know their market very
well & have no need to chase Samsung or HTC on screen size.

The only weakness I see in Apple's strategies with the iPad is that they have
hobbled mouse support & IMHO that is because they believe adding mouse
support would cut into the success of the MacBook Air.

Mouse support on iPads would open up a wider market for them (spreadsheets &
graphics) but at the expense of existing laptop products and at a time where
such improvements may not be needed (yet).

As far as I am concerned, they won't be a tablet until they are the same size as
a standard writing tablet. That would be 8.5" x 11" with a touchscreen
display that is 7" x 10". With a stylus and decent handwriting
recognition, that would be a tablet I could get used to. Anything less is still
just a toy.
