This is a strong point. If a change of API were just a matter of learning a new
vocabulary the problem is one of training. But real life programming involves
using existing libraries. Are these available for Android? With a change of
names in the 37 files these additional libraries won't run and then the
programmer need more than learn a new vocabulary. He needs to rewrite new
libraries every time he has a programming task which could have been solved with
an existing library.

I really hope Google uses the brief to make this point. We picked the 57 API
because they allowed these ( insert list) existing libraries to run on Android.
This allowed them to create a friendly ecosystem of pre-existing code, most of
it open source and unrelated to Sun.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
