heh, I dont sell anything. My employer doesn't either. I would actually take a
pay cut if they switched to linux. I would LOVE that. I could make their
systems hum to what ever tune they desired. But alas, they wont let me. Too
much money in play. The management feels (like the old saying) "No one gets
fired for using...". I am an old timer. Over 30 years experience. Another
link to back my statement Link Target is not in
bed with MS. It is a retail battle. Local vs Internet. Unfortunately I think
Internet will win. PJ knows who I am and with a little looking she could verify
my employment. But it matters not. If corps wanted to really take amazon to
task, they could. An internet coupon via Android phone app could set amazon on
their heels. It could cost a quarter in earnings, but the message would be the
shot heard around the world per say. Heh, dont need to be amazon to undercut
local retail. The special would be a special that would be sent to the store
for pick-up. Getting even more people in the physical stores. Heck Sears could
do the same. Also they could lobby state legislators about taxing UPS and FEDEX
delivery. But the states are looking for ways to tax the internet. Baaah. It
is all about money. I am for computing and programming. Gotta make a living,
but things are getting hard with all the law suits. It is what brought me to
groklaw to begin with. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Over all, they could team with RedHat. To retool could be a boon. I first
thought you were implying I was retail. Thinking again... I can be slow with
short statements - lol - Many large financial institutions are using Linux for
the savings and flexibility. They could get a short term loan from say
StateStreet (one of the major investors in Target) and migrate in under a year.
Actually I think that they would be a MUCH smarter corp if they did.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
