EU Court of Justice: No Copyright on Computer Functionality or Computer Languages ~pj

Does the Honorable Judge Alsup read information from sites like these?

Does he seek "advice" from his fellow judges on cases as complicated as Oracle vs Google?

After all, he's just as human as everyone else and as such, is prone to making mistakes, right?

How could this new information get in front of the Judge? or be brought into
this case? Is it too late?

SQL IS NOT A THE BASIS OF DBMS
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, May 02 2012 @ 10:36 AM EDT
I love it when people who know nothing about databases (DBMS) make comments
about them.

SQL (Structured Query Language) is a language that is used to manage data in
relational database management system (RDBMS). There are other languages that
can be used as well. SQL is not a data model.

The Relational model is the basis for relational database management systems
(RDBMS). Oracle is a relation database. The Relational model was developed by
E. F. Codd in 1969 working for IBM.

UNIX / SOLARIS
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, May 02 2012 @ 12:03 PM EDT
I'd be more tempted to point to their reimplementation of the UNIX/POSIX API,
owned (last I checked) by Novell, who would probably be quite happy to gouge
some money out of Oracle.

There's a direct parrallel for you!
