I believe what we can identify for certain are, files which are NOT
(exclusively) copyright by Sun, or files which have an explicit claim of a
different license. To do more, we would have to have chain-of-custody record
and records like IBM's Certificate of Originality. I do not believe Sun kept
track of such details--but I only know for certain that IBM does. I do not know
for certain that Sun didn't.
For the record, the current Oracle download
page to the Java 2 5.0 archives is:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive
-downloads-javase5-419410.html I downloaded the AMD64 Linux one,
'cause my main Linux system is AMD64. (Along with half-a-dozen Linux VM images
on my MacBook.)
(It is good that others use different routes to files which
claim to be the same, that will help identify shenanigans.)
My search-fu is
weak tonight, the only list of "The 37" I can find is in Oracle's opening
slides. That's enough, so I'm just going to use that. (Anyway, I can
cut-n-paste from it, so that's all I need anyway.)
This is going to take
some fiddling, so I'll post the results in an update. But the first one I
looked at, java.awt.font, has a mix of IBM, Sun, and Taligent copyrights.
