'To this day'
Authored by: Wol on Thursday, April 26 2012 @ 05:01 PM EDT
What Google may well have noticed (I'm sure they must have got their hands on
the copyright registration) is that the registration was for a compilation. In
other words, Oracle MUST claim all or nothing. No in-between.

Yet Oracle have been claiming "the 37" shrunk down from "the
51" but the 37 call out to loads of others.

The other crucial thing is that a compilation registration does NOT presume the
registrant owns the copyright in the individual bits.

And the reason Google hasn't acted earlier? That's the point of "Oracle
raised it on Monday" - the copyright registration is the capstone of a Rule
50 motion, which Oracle kindly entered into evidence themselves on Monday :-)

Cheers,
Wol
