Windows 8 tablets: Not open for business

Well, that is that! No business use for ARM-based Windoze RT, because "Actual Disaster" is not supported. But it gets worse:

Intune is a cloud-based Windows security and management service. Eric Main, director of product marketing for Windows Intune, says the the next version of Intune, which will be Windows 8 compatible, will “cost $11 U.S. per PC, per month,” with an additional “four mobile devices per seat.”
$11 per PC, per month is $132 per year, which is more than the cost of PC hardware, assuming a 4 year life. Who do they think they are kidding? And who would trust the M$ cloud with their vital security configuration?

I do believe that the decline of M$ has just notched up a couple of gears.....

Computing at School’s Raspberry Pi manual – call for contributions!
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, April 23 2012 @ 01:01 PM EDT
Over the past few months the Computing at School’s working group (CAS) has been working on a user manual to be ready for the educational launch. The manual is destined to answer that question to be asked by many Raspberry Pi owners; “What do I do with it?“ The manual will be right there on the desktop when the Raspberry Pi boots up. Thus, the owner won’t need an internet connection to get started.

[...]

This is a call to the Raspberry Pi development community for your contribution to the educational manual.

As in the good old days of magazine listings, we are looking for short programs followed by a description of how they do what they do and preferably how it relates to a computing concept.

SCO financials?
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, April 23 2012 @ 04:57 PM EDT
Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention, but I haven't seen SCO's
monthly financials for what feels like much more than a month.

Are they up to date on filing them?

How much money do they have available, and what's their burn rate?

With the IBM trial not yet scheduled, does it never happen due to Chapter 7?

The Guardian has a scary, but realistic and believable story about what will happen if Cispa is signed into law.

I find it increasingly distressing that that those who oppose such bills get such little support from the public at large.
