The Java language is indeed a software program
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, April 23 2012 @ 12:53 PM EDT
<a href="http://www.ajile.com/">aJile Systems</a> has been
shipping silicon machines that execute Java bytecodes directly for some years
now.

Also, early implementations of ARM's proprietary Jazelle technology execute some
simple Java bytecodes in hardware, with a software JVM used as a backstop.
Recent implementations are degenerate for compatibility and pass all bytecodes
through to the backstop JVM.

Finally, nobody can create a fixed expression of a *language* in a medium; the
concept of a language is too abstract. A computer language is distinct from its
compilers and tools, which are merely examples at best. Analogously, a human
language is distinct from the numerous and various dictionaries and style
manuals written about the language, and the customs of a culture are distinct
from the writings describing or prescribing them.
