No, you are probably thinking of the compiler or the runtime. Those are not the

Please provide a link or citation to support your statement that the java
language is a computer program.
It is my understanding that the java language itself is an abstract idea. It is
the set of rules used for creating java programs. It has been documented by
Sun/Oracle, but it has also been documented in many books written by others,
such as O'Reilly's "java in a nutshell", and all of those different
written descriptions can be copyrighted, but the facts that make up the
description of the java language cannot be copyrighted.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I invented, this morning, a computer language. No interpreter or compiler has
been written for it, yet, but I have defined a syntax.
In what way is my computer language a software program?
