It doesn't fit in the same dewey decimal number... It will get a new number
ADJACENT to the number given the original volume (major number might be

The problem is Oracle is claiming Copyright on the standard which they
control. My John Smith organizing system is just like the Dewey decimal
system, except I've appended some special characters at the end to
indicate dvd, video tape,audio tape, and other media and formats not
available when the Dewey system was designed. The Dewey (Oracle) is
suing because they are claiming they own the copyright to the
numbering system. I tried to get the Dewey standards group to accept
my improved scheme, but they refused, so it is the John Smith system,
not Dewey. I sold my system to a bunch of libraries, now Dewey is
