Jobs was not first
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, April 20 2012 @ 11:56 AM EDT
Steve Jobs is credited with saying that a good design is not when there's nothing left to add, but when there's nothing left to take away. (hence the single button on the iPod)

Actually, those words are generally credited to Antoine de Saint Exupery, who died before Jobs was born.

I've NEVER seen a quote from Jobs along those lines. "Insanely
great," yes. "And just one more thing," yes. "The trouble
with Microsoft is that they have no soul," yes.

Hmm - not sure if the quote is attributable to Jobs - but he really wasn't the
guy who came up with this approach. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madman_Muntz and the term Muntzing!

To save people the trouble, Muntz was famous for creating the first under-$100
TVs. He did this by clipping various components out of the TV circuit. If he
still had a picture, you didn't need that part! His TVs worked great in strong
signal areas.

I need to do a little googling before I attribute sayings publically. No, it
was not Jobs.

I had always heard it in that context, and now I have something else to correct
other people about.
