Daily news, including coverage of this trial,
is done by largely disinterested people who
have an agenda to attract readers who are also
largely disinterested.
A volunteer who takes a personal interest in
the story being covered and reports to a
circle of peers who hang by every word is a
rare and wonderful occurrence.
Most everyone else are looking for short
soundbites and juicy headlines, and the easy
way out is to go with the party line and take
sides against Google. It's strange to see such
hostility towards Google, really, because I
thought Americans loved success stories.
I have to agree that "Google caught stealing
code, owes Oracle billions" makes a more flashy
headline than "Google did nothing wrong, owes
Oracle nothing", but that should not matter.
