I would be happy if they were disinterested

Unfortunately reporting is often from those that are either interested, or not
interested.

And I use the words "interested" as in "interested parties"
(i.e conflicted), and "not interested" as in "uncaring about the
truth" (i.e. bored, uninformed, naive, or uncaring)

Note that those out for a headline may be conflicted about the need to inform
rather than entertain which leads to them seeing no need to be informed.

Reporting should be disinterested. A quote from somewhere:

"A bored person is uninterested. Do not confuse this word with the much
rarer disinterested, which means “objective, neutral.”"
